Jamie: Someone else should be writing this blog post. I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who would give this place a thumbs up but it is damn sure not me. Wednesdays are ½ off wings and Brian is never the one to miss a good wing/$ ratio so we thought to give it a try for the first time. Swig and Swine has a sign on the side of their building that says “ horrifying vegetarians since 2013” now I’m not a vegetarian, but I was for a few years and I’m always feeling guilty about not being one anymore. This sign just felt alienating enough that I’ve refused to go there for the past three years, so unbeknownst to the unsuspecting and super nice staff, I had an attitude about it. My irrational anger returned in full force when the wings Brian made me order came out. They were smoked, can’t do it, wont. I refuse! And the fliesss!!!
Brian: I need to interject real quick. Yes, they poke fun at vegetable eaters. Yes, there were flies outside. Yes, Jamie drank more glasses of wine (3) than she ate chicken wings (1.5). But, in fairness, they were good smoked wings if you like that style (could use a little more sauce variety). And what about the pork rinds? My buddy Danny swears by them and we recently had them after a round of golf. He usually orders three full plates (one for himself, one for his wife, and one for his kids - the man is a provider). Also, we didn't mention anything about the "swig" part of the menu. They have an ample selection of whiskey and cocktails. So, to summarize, if you like whiskey, pork fat, and smoked wings, then this place is worth checking out. They have multiple locations around Charleston and a strong following: https://swigandswinebbq.com/.
