So we’d already checked out the Five Loaves in Summerville but since I only went there for work lunches I’d never get to check out the bar, so we thought we’d go to the downtown one for good measure. The building is smaller than the Summerville location, you’re a little on top of the other tables but it has a nice atmosphere and a great location, we got lucky and didn’t have trouble parking. Brian and I were on a vegetarian/ health kick, which has since been broken by chicken fingers, (Damn you SC and your delicious chicken!) so if you’re looking for really good and somewhat healthy Vegetarian food, Five Loaves has a lot of options. To be clear, this isn’t a vegetarian restaurant, I saw a bunch of meat options as well but it all seems to be fresh local food with an emphasis on health. I got a mushroom pasta which was super good but not exactly the healthiest thing on the menu. Brian, who hates himself more than I do, got a spinach and berry salad. He says it was fine but he could have eaten 20 of them. We also got eggplant fritters, which were not as delicious as I would have hoped. I had two glasses of a very good (and cheap) white wine, I forget the name of it but I remember that the name was funny and that made me compelled to try it. Brian had a Stone. If you're looking for a new cool place to try we definitely recommend this unique local chain.
Them chicken fingers smell so darn good
